Little did he know...

Little did he know what was going to happen next.

He was probably the best football player in his town. He was only 14 years old, but he was very talented. He wanted to be part of one of these famous teams he watched on TV, so he decided to go to the capital to try passing the test.

At that moment, he was totally exhausted. Previously, he had been told to do a written test. It had two parts. At the first one, he ad to explain why he wanted to get into the club. The second was a general knowledge questionnaire. He had spent three hours writing.

After that, they drove him to the swimming pool. there, he had been swimming for an hour, mainly at crawl-style. He supposed he had made good times, because he had felt very tired.
Then, they asked him to do another test: A running one. He had been running for half an hour, around one of the buildings. He couldn't still prove his quality as a proper football player.

When he was wondering what would happen next and if more tests would be needed, a man shouted at him: Hey, come here!

He hadn't previously realised that the man was behind him. He felt so tired that he walked quietly towards the man.

While he was in his way, he inspected him carefully. That guy didn't seem to be part of the club. In fact, he was dressed in jeans. he wore a fashionable white shirt and a black cup. He was much taller than him, and should be in his middle-forties. he carried a small yellow notebook on his left hand, where he had been probably taking notes.

The boy finally reached the man. After a while looking at each other, the man started to speak. He asked him whether he was interested in joining his team.

What team?, he said. The situation was totally unexpected for him. He was pretending to get into a team, and that stranger wanted him to be part of another.

He asked the name of the team. The man said: "Altair" But the boy didn't know it. The face of the boy showed surprise and curiosity. The man explained that it was a baseball team, and that he could be a good baseball player.

Two days later, he got in touch with baseball. He enjoyed playing it more than football, so he ended being a professional player.

Nowadays, he is one of the best baseball players all over the world. Would he had been so successful if he had remained at football? Nobody knows.

To the moon and back

She's taking her time making up the reasons
To justify all the hurt inside
Guess she knows from the smiles and the look in their eyes
Everyone's got a theory about the bitter one
They're saying, "Mama never loved her much"
And, "Daddy never keeps in touch
That's why she shies away from human affection"
But somewhere in a private place
She packs her bags for outer space
And now she's waiting for the right kind of pilot to come
And she'll say to him
She's saying

Chorus
I would fly up to the moon and back if you'll be...
If you'll be my baby
I've got a ticket for a world where we belong
So would you be my baby?

She can't remember a time when she felt needed
If love was red then she was color blind
All her friends, well they've been trialed for treason
And crimes that were never defined
She's saying, "Love is like a barren place,
And reaching out for human faith
It's like a journey I just don't have a map for"
So baby's gonna take a dive and
Push the shift to overdrive
Send a signal that she's hanging
All her hopes on the stars
What a pleasant dream
She's saying

[Chorus]

Hold on, hold on ...

Mama never loved her much
And, Daddy never keeps in touch
That's why she shies away from human affection
But somewhere in a private place
She packs her bags for outer space
And now she's waiting for the right kind of pilot to come
And she'll say to him
She's saying

[Chorus] (2x)

Wind

When the wind blows at high speed, many things can happen. Some of them are bad...

Either it disturbs you the whole night with its irritating sound or a tropical storm called Delta can arrive. (I got it checked on my list. I want no more.)

And there are more cons about the wind: It can also pull your kite too much, untill a line is breaked. After that, you can fall and get injured. (Actually, it happened to me.)

Moreover, I advise you to drive carefully and at lower speed than usually. When you are driving at 100km/h, the effect of wind on the car is highly noticeable. That is very dangerous, because you can lost control of the car in a second. (It didn´t happened to me, I haven´t crashed the car... yet.)

The wind also carries clouds. And the clouds carry water. And, if you are enjoying a windy day outside, it is probable that you will suffer a sudden storm over your head. Next, you could get a fresh new cold, in order to inaugurate the flu season. (...Yes, this point is on the "I did")

But our invisible friend has advantages too.

You can avoid to comb your hair, and when someone would tell you "what a terrific mess you have in your hair", simply answer that you hate the wind for untidying it. (Almost everybody has suffered it, please do recognise it!)

Another point in favor of the wind is that hanged out clothes dry faster than when there isn´t (well, supposing that it isn´t raining.) And that´s something to bear in mind when you are in a hurry and need your lucky item of clothing. ( mmm, I´ll leave it unchecked...)

The wind moves things: Pollution, clouds, wind turbines... Modern big cities use to have a dark hat above them. That hat is mainly a mix of contamination from cars, heating systems, industries... And when the wind gets you ride of it, you are very grateful to, so you can get a deep breathe of not-too-contaminated air. (Although the wind only displaces it, so other people would enjoy the hat.)

What other things occur when the wind is around us? I´ll leave them for other post! Untill then, I will bear these in mind, and I hope that it would turn into a soft breeze.

Auditorium in blue

A few weeks ago, I heard on the radio that it was the "World Diabetes Day". In order to concern people about diabetes, in many cities would change the usual illumination´s color of significant buildings. The chosen color for that special occasion was blue. So the auditorium of Tenerife would be part of the campaign.

I couldn´t resist myself to go there and take some photos. I had never seen it with that kind of decorative lighting before.

Therefore, after my german classes, I made my way to the auditorium. The night was clear. The temperature was perfect, neither cold nor too warm. There were no clouds on the sky. And there weren´t many people at the street either.

It was great. I carried my little tripod, in order to avoid blurred photos. I found a good place to start the work. A little wall, with a perfect panoramic of the subject and where I could put the camera and sit myself.

I took many photos, and I would have taken more, but I arrived too late. Nearby eleven in the night, the lights were switched off. "What a pity" - I thought.

But I didn´t really mind, in fact, it was time to come back home. I hadn´t still have dinner, and I was a bit hungry!!!

Update: I have recently spoken with "pejeverde" about the image´s rights of the auditorium. Should I need to ask for autorization to take photos to it, suposing that I don´t pretend to make money with the photos? (and/or pay for it.) More about the subject here (in spanish.)

Not as we

Reborn and shivering
Spat out on new terrain
Unsure, unconvincing
This faint and shaky hour

Chorus:

Day one, day one
Start over again
Step one, step one
I'm barely making sense
For now I'm faking it
'Til I'm psuedo-making it
From scratch, begin again
But this time I as I
And not as we

Gun-shy and shivering
Tear it without a hand
Feign brave but still intent
Little and hardly here

[Chorus]

Eyes wet toward wide open fright,
If God is taking bias, I pray he wants to lose,

[Chorus]
