Danger in the city

I was coming back home after a party night. But it was so late that I didn´t feel sleepy, so I decided to give a walk around the neighbourhood.

The street was empty of cars. The streetlamps sparkled, mixing light and shades. It was a peaceful time.

While I was moving along the road, the wing carried a sweet melody to me. I tried to guess where it came from. After listening carefully for a while, I realised that the sound could be a distant concert.

I wanted to know what was exactly that music. It distiled mistery and flavor, it attracted me as a siren song. Then, I decided to find out the source. Finally, I directed myself towards an uphill street.

Five minutes later, I noticed that the sound became clearer. I arrived to a cobbled square. At the center, there was a high mast, with a blue and yellow flag on it. Out of the blue, I felt the wind hitting on my face, and a whistling noise produced by the flag.

I smiled sligtly and I stayed there, looking to the flag. My imagination is terrible! - I thought. Or maybe it was already time to go to bed.

Suddenly, I felt something breathing at my back. I quickly turned on my feet. And there was him! A terrifying tiger was looking at me. I didn´t know how to act, but if I had, I wouldn´t have been able to do anything. I was totally paralised by terror.

"My new friend" was big, enormous. His look was defiant. I avoided getting in touch with his eyes. He moved around me slowly. After that, he stopped in front of me. Then, he roared loudly. I was expecting the worst end.

But nothing happened. In fact, one thing happened: The sun arose between two buildings, reaching us. Hopefully, gargoyles turn to stone when the sun touches them! I recovered my sleepyness during the way back home, and I pondered a master plan.

The next day, I went to buy a red marker. Then, I came back to that place. And I wrote down, on the plaque next to the big cat and with capital letters:

"Beware of the tiger"
